The regular meeting of the council was held Monday evening, August 17. A license was issued to J.F. Coffman to run a bowling alley in the room adjoining the postoffice on the west. The gutter on the west side of Third street between Main street and the Elgin Hotel was ordered to be reconstructed to better drain the street. And, the board walk on the west of the Marion National Bank, between Main street and the alley, was condemned.

Cut the weeds! The Record was asked by several parties this morning to call attention to this matter. In some back yards they are reported to be very high. It looks bad.

Contractors are getting busy putting in concrete walks.

The social for the benefit of the band boys which the rain prevented Tuesday night will be held at the home of Brown Corby Friday, tomorrow, night.

A large crowd attended the laying of the corner store Sunday at the Grapes church location.

The Marion Gun Club met Tuesday evening instead of Monday evening of this week at the regular place, three blocks north of the ball grounds. The following members attended the shoot and won the percents given: Walter Bown, 90; Harry McFadden, 20; Fred Wilcox, 40; Ross Good, 50; Lafe Bell, 20; Alva Jost, 80; Carl Gilchrist, 80; Roy Plunkett, 50; Jesse West, 0.
