Marion was the busiest place Friday night that one could imagine. On account of the heavy rains at the heads of Clear Creek and the Luta, it looked like Marion would experience another flood. By midnight all of the business firms began placing their goods out of the reach of the last high water mark. Reports from points up stream overreached a little. As it was the Luta came very near going over its bank, but the Cottonwood reached its highest point without reaching the real danger point. It was a close call.

The preparations for Marion’s monster 4th of July celebration are going steadily on and everything gives promise of a big time.

T. Jensen & Bros., poultry and produce dealers, this week purchased the store building on west Main street for some time occupied by the Marion Produce Co. The deal has been on for some days and was completed Tuesday. Jensen bros. will occupy the Main street property as soon as the change can be made.

The wire for the metallic circuit phone between Marion and Hillsboro was strung in Marion Tuesday and ‘tis likely the line will be ready for service this week.

City Marshal Kleinhammer from Saturday to Monday shifted his responsibilities to the shoulders of Lon Mott and spent the time in the country with his father-in-law, Mr. C. Scharenberg, northeast of town. This is the first time Mr. Kleinhammer has been away since accepting the position.
