Two bad fires occurred this week. The Cottonwood Valley Mill just west of town was burned Saturday night. Inside the stone walls it was completely destroyed. No one can account for the origin of the fire.

The tank station house of the Midland Refinery Co., south of the Santa Fe depot, was destroyed Tuesday afternoon.

Tank truck driver Wilson had filled his truck and says it ran over and gasoline falling on the hot exhaust ignited. The building was immediately engulfed with flames.

Brooker Sales Co. now has fourteen men holding sales for them in different towns. Willard King went to Wellington Sunday where he will be for a month.

The Marion Grain Co. has opened for business in their new elevator south of the Rock Island depot. The elevator is of about 15,000-bushel capacity and the machinery will all be electrically run. Mr. Grubb is in charge. The new company will handle grains, flour, and feed.

Dwight and Pauline Lowther had an accident on the way home from school Wednesday of last week and were thrown from the buggy., Miss Pauline having her right forearm broken but is getting along nicely.

An especially well-balanced course is offered for entertainment of the people of Marion and vicinity during the coming season. The time of the first attraction is next Tuesday, the place is the Methodist church.
