Another hero is gone. Frank Penland, a high esteemed pioneer, a fine citizen, a faithful and loving husband, a kind father, a good man, and a real hero left us when he went away to that country from whose bourne no traveler returns.—E.W.H.

Work started this week on the remodeling of the room in the Wheeler building for the picture show.

L.O Hildwein of the Wren community had the misfortune to lose a bunch of shoats a little over a week ago. They were crossing the ice and it gave way with them.

Word was received this week of the death of James Corbett, at his home near Newton. He was once a prominent business man in Marion and old-timers will remember him kindly, and are saddened by his death.
