100 years ago

Tuesday, Nov. 11th, 1919, will be the first anniversary of the celebration, a year ago, in every community of this country, of the close of hostilities in the greatest conflict the world has ever known.

The Governor of this State, by proclamation, designated that day as “Armistice Day,” to be fittingly observed by appropriate ceremonies and celebrations in every community in Kansas.

One of the taxis belonging to the Fishburn hack line turned over east of town Monday when the driver was driving at excessive speed. The car was considerably smashed up. Luckily, the driver escaped without bad injury.

Orville Miesse has a new five-room bungalow nearing completion in the northeast part of town.

Mrs. Fred Collett was over from Middle Creek on Wednesday to take her mother Mrs. Lucy A. Phillips and her son Henry Collett home for the school vacation. Mrs. Collett had just returned last Saturday from a four weeks visit at Las Animas, Colorado, were she had been assisting in the care of Mr. Collett’s mother. She left her getting along nicely.
