Everything is “all set” for the big day Monday, when Marion County will welcome her soldiers, sailors and marines for the biggest day in the history of the county. Invitations have been sent to each of the thousand service men in the county, personally inviting them to be guests of the county on that day.

Jesse West is driving a new truck to service the milk route.

Marion schools will open Sept. 8th. May we urge all to be ready for work that no time be lost. The revised Truancy Law requires children to attend school until the sixteenth birthday. This law must be enforced.

Maj. Fred Lewis came home this week from Pittsburg, having completed his work as superintendent of construction on the big new normal building.

All dry goods stores will close at noon Monday and the grocery stores will close at 2 o’clock p.m. and the banks the whole day.

Jacob Batt sent out two cars last week. An Essex to the Hillsboro dealer, Geo. Hagen, and an Overland to A.B. Smith, dealer at Lost Springs.
