Tuesday, Sept. 25, was one of the great days in the history of the town—one of the days that will be long remembered. For at about six o’clock in the evening of that day, Company M left for Camp Doniphan, Oklahoma, where they will be in training for uncertain period before leaving for France.

Tomato vines ten feet high. Ed Hannaford has them in his patch. He has been for a number of years the champion tomato grower of the town and this year is breaking his record. One tomato, which he picked the other day, weighed thirty-one ounces.

S.L. Brose has been putting in a lot of improvements at his residence—concrete retaining wall, sidewalks, etc.

City mail delivery starts on next Monday. There will be two deliveries a day, the first one starting at 7:30 and the second at 2:30. It is hoped that a third delivery to business houses will be added soon.

On Friday evening, a company of about fifty young ladies enjoyed a fine picnic supper in the Park. It was the Marion girls giving a picnic and reception for the school teachers, milliners and other new young ladies in the town. It was a very informal and enjoyable gathering.

A.F. Holmgren of the Lincolnville bank has been drawn on the Federal jury and Walter Siebert goes up next week to have charge of the Bank during his absence.
