A new candy kitchen is to be opening up about the 1st of February in the Carpenter building west of the P.O. by Mr. Demos Demopoulas, a professional candy maker from Wichita. He will also install a soda fountain. The room will be specially fitted up for this new enterprise which is expected to be up-to-date in every particular.

Dr. C.C. Jones was in Chanute the first of the week making arrangements for the placing of a big bunch of children in that county by the New York Children’s Aid Society. There will be a big public meeting there on Friday of this week similar to the one held at Marion when the Society first began its fine work in this county.
The County Commissioners re-organized on Monday, with Commissioner Jacob A. Unruh as chairman. John G. Snelling was sworn in as Commissioner and got right into the harness. The Commissioners visited the County Farm on Tuesday and on Wednesday were in Moore township on road matters. The salary of Will Maltby as Court House janitor was raised to $60 a month.
Tom Armstrong and family have moved into the county residence, at the jail, and Undersheriff Hannaman and family are living in the Graves residence in Jex Addition.
