“Lost by one vote”—That was the report of the count upon the school house proposition voted on at the special election last Friday. A recount of the votes increased the margin by two, 350 to 352. The problem of adequate school facilities is still here and will continue to grow more acute.

We have learned that Mr. T.B. Townsend, owner of the big Townsend ranch near Peabody died week before last in Los Angeles. His home was in Zanesville, Ohio. He has for many years visited his ranch twice a year.

The Marion High School football team won the last game of the season here last Thursday afternoon from the Herington team in a ridiculously easy fashion. Marion fans hope that if a Turkey Day game is scheduled for next year it will be a game with a strong opponent. The final score of the game was somewhere around ninety to nothing—nobody seems to know exactly.

The Minstrel Show put on by the Band Boys and others on Monday evening was a rip-snorter, to speak in mild and chaste English as the subject demands. Harry Rogers was interlocutor and Robert Florer, Geo. McKay, Charley Brooker and Albert Wheeler were end-men.

A meeting has been called at Lawrence on Dec. 19 for the purpose of organizing a Kansas branch of the Anti-Saloon League and putting Kansas prohibition forces in an organized way into the fight for National Prohibition.
