A lot of business men from over the county met last Thursday evening and organized a County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. A.L. Oliger, of Emporia, secretary of the Kansas Retailers Association, and Mr. J.A. Fansler, field secretary, were here to assist in the organization.

Mrs. Lucy A. Phillips had the misfortune to fall on the pavement while down town Monday, was quite badly bruised and received a cut on the head but is getting along nicely. Her daughter, Mrs. Fred Collett of Elk, came in Monday and visited until Wednesday with her.

James and Everett Reed, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Reed of Antelope, have each received from the Rock Island company a handsome gold watch, in appreciation of their heroism last June when they risked their lives in the storm and prevented a terrible wreck of a passenger train. It is a slight recognition of a splendid service.

The Rolley Café is established now in its new quarters—first door east of Sheldon’s Jewelry—and has perhaps the best equipped place of any café the town has ever had.

Marion has one of the best bands in this part of the state—but the boys certainly need new uniforms. The boys are going to put on a big minstrel show Monday evening, December 4, and the money is to go for uniforms. The house should be crowded,
