As the Record is about to go to press, the election of Wilson now seems to be in doubt. There is a chance, a very slim chance that Hughes may yet win. And our Hoper is doin’ its best. For just one little electoral vote to the good—that’s not asking very much, is it?

Prof. and Mrs. Poundstone will go from the State Teachers’ Association meeting to Manhattan to see the Missouri University and Aggie game. Mrs. Poundstone’s brother, Mr. Randals, is on the Aggie team.

Jake Morlong, a young fellow of the Silver Creek neighborhood, was in the other morning to report that the Silver Creek boys’ ball team cleaned up the Hillsboro boys’ ball team the other day, 24 to 15. The game was played four miles east of Durham.

Will H. Thompson and family are enjoying a new Hobart M. Cable piano in their home.

Mr. Newlin of Lewis, Kans., was here over the weekend visiting Dr. C.B. Smith. He is looking for a location for an automobile tube and tire vulcanizing business.

Miss Ida Riffel attended a reception at the Fred Vogel home on last Sunday, given for their son, Alex Vogel, and his bride, who had recently been married at their home in Oklahoma. The bride was Miss Anna Schuber and is a cousin of Miss Riffel’s.

The Record has at its disposal several tickets of admission to the big Livestock Exposition to be held in Chicago December 2 to 9, which it will be glad to give to any Marion county farmers or stockmen who may be expecting to attend.
