The streams came out of their banks again on Tuesday of this week following a rain amounting to nearly three inches over the county. In town the water was over part of Main Street again as it was last week and was perhaps an inch or a little more higher than last week.

The Marion County people who attended the dedication of the State Y.M.C.A. Camp near Elmdale last Sunday were much impressed by the exercises of the day and by the “layout” there. The 40 acres with which the Camp begins was the gift of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wood, pioneers of Chase County. He is a brother of the noted Sam Wood.

Several have asked about the building of the stone-arch bridge. It was built in 1884, according to several who are authority in local history matters and the contractors were Lewis and Hoopes.

At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the County Old Settlers’ Association last Saturday it was decided to hold the Annual Picnic this year on July 4, at Marion. With this will be combined a regulation 4th of July celebration.

The first section of the Boys’ County Camp will begin at Peabody next Monday. The following boys from Marion will be there: Willard Wolfinbarger, Elder Freeland, Clarence Penland, Wm. Kellett, Dugg Castle, Harry Corn and Dal Pollitt.
