The splendid new Catholic Church which has been under construction southwest of Marion — the Spring Branch neighborhood — has been completed and the dedicatory services will be held on Tuesday of next week, Dec. 7. The church is known as the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

The Methodist Church at Aulne was entirely destroyed by fire early last Saturday morning. The origin of the fire is not known but a defective flue seems the most plausible explanation.

The new city engine was “hooked up” to the city pumps and to the commercial light load yesterday evening and appears to be performing in great shape. The engine, which is known as the “Busch-Diesel” is certainly a thing of beauty. The engineers in charge will be E.F. Sheldon and Douglas Revo.

All of the churches will give a union Christmas musical at the M.E. church Friday evening. Everyone is invited.

Mr. Reed, a representative of the “Big Four” movie film manufacturers, was here yesterday and completed arrangements with Harry Rogers for putting on a series of these big pictures at the Auditorium this winter. The company is now putting on, in smaller towns, such films as the Rosary, Graustark, and The Juggernaut, hitherto shown only in the large cities. The list of those to be shown here will be announced soon.
