Trees are budding and flowers are blooming — sure signs of spring.

Extensive renovation has been completed at St. Mark Catholic Church of Marion, Holy Family Parish, and parishioners wish to invite the community to see the changes. A public open house is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. April 19.

Marion High School junior basketball players Julia Zeiner and Lindsay Hett were named this past week to the Topeka Capital Journal honorable mention 3A state basketball team.

Strong south winds with gusts up to 56 mph caused trouble for motorists and pedestrians Monday afternoon. A truck was blown off US-56 near K-256 and the injured driver was taken to St. Luke Hospital.

Centre High School will graduate its 50th senior class in May. To celebrate the school’s 50 years of existence, alumni and former teacher/staff members are invited to a reunion May 23 at the high school.

A new vault bathroom structure of solid concrete has been installed near the heated dock at Marion County Park and Lake. The county paid $14,598 for the project, which was contracted by CX2 of Spokane, Washington.
