Jackie Hett is the subject of Susan Berg’s article entitled “Octogenarian rancher continues to ride the range.” Hett still enjoys the lifestyle she has lived for the past 50 years — one of living in the farmhouse she shared with her husband, Walt, for nearly 50 years, working cattle, and spending time with family and friends.

A 25-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, Jason Commerford is retiring Friday after 22 years of walking about 10 miles per day. Commerford, who lives in Peabody, has had the Marion foot route, delivering mail to businesses and residents.

Terry Vinduska of Marion recently returned from a trip to the Mediterranean as a member of the U.S. Grains Council. The group visited Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Spain.

Alex Eurit won first place in solo humorous acting Feb. 16 at Hillsboro High School’s forensics meet and was joined by other members of the team in earning first place at the meet.

In an effort to help Stepping Stone Preschool, Brad and Jeannie Wildin, owners of The County Seat, had a cute pet contest in recognition of their cat, Oliver’s, birthday. The winner was Suzy, Ellen Darrow’s house cat.
