The third annual Marion Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is at 2 p.m. Sunday in downtown Marion. Entries will line up at 1:30 p.m. across from Ampride on East Main Street.

Lin Slifer, Tim Christensen, Gordon Pendergraft, Duane Koehn, and John Dicks are pictured on the front page as they move Christmas decorations into position at Pendergraft’s home at Marion County Park and Lake. Pendergraft said others have helped him put up his sleigh and reindeer decoration for years.

Four Marion High School students were selected for South Central Kansas Music Education Association concerts Dec. 6 at Wichita State University. Students selected were Philip Gu, clarinet; Lucy Collett, choir; Landon Leiker, trumpet; and Sarah Guetersloh, trombone.

Retailers want shoppers to “go green” by purchasing reusable shopping bags. The program is sponsored by the retail sales committee of Marion Chamber of Commerce. The promotion printed with “Shop Marion First,” encourages shoppers to use the cloth Marion bags instead of plastic or paper.

The 2008-2009 Marion High School boys’ basketball squad will feature seniors Luke Gordon, Mitchell Leppke, and Elliot Hett.
