Larry Hatteberg made the one-hour trip to Marion earlier in the week to do a feature story about Larry “Farmer” and Deana Olsen. The Olsens live west of Marion and are known for their miniature horses. The Olsens’ “Tiny Trails” operation on their farm allows people to come out and lead a horse through a mile of trails around the farm. Their other horse operation, Cottonwood Miniatures, allows the Olsens to breed, train, and sell horses.

The Marion swim team ran away with the Solomon meet championship Saturday. It was the team’s third victory in four meets this season. Pictured are Emily Schafers, Courtney Herzet, and Tori Shults, members of the champion Marion team.

Loreen Hett is recognized this week as the outstanding employee of the quarter at St. Luke Hospital & Living Center and Marion County Home Care.

Hillsboro American Legion Post No. 366 Babe Ruth team will play in the Marion in the 16-18 Babe Ruth District 4 Tournament that begins July 11. The Hillsboro team has a little bit of Marion flavor this year with three athletes from the 2008 Marion High School squad on the roster. Calvin Jeffrey, Brian Fruechting, and Wil Case of Marion joined the Hillsboro post’s team for the first time this year.
