It was not a good day of fishing at Marion County Lake for a visitor from Newton. All that was caught was his pickup that rolled into the lake shortly after he parked it at the fishing dock. Pictures on the front page show the truck being recovered with assistance from a team of divers from Augusta and Darvin Markley’s wrecker.

With less than six weeks before the filing deadline, only two local candidates have committed to running for office. State Representative Don Dahl of Hillsboro will seek his fourth term and Republican Robert P. Craft of rural Marion has filed for the office of Marion County Sheriff.
