Dan Meers, who is the man inside the Kansas City Chiefs mascot, KC Wolf, was at Marion Elementary School Jan. 15 presenting the ABCs of success to the students. He talked to them about how to have a good attitude, behavior, and character.

Friday will mark the 140th anniversary of Case & Son Insurance. The office has been at the 220 E. Main address the entire 140 years.

St. Luke Hospital and Living Center this week congratulates the following 2007 service award recipients: Irene Ratzloff, 40 years; Dorothy Fredrickson, 20 years; Ana Krause, Cindy Moore, Lori Smith, Sharon Zogelman, and Stacie Smith, 10 years; Diane Carpenter, Lori Garrett, Bob Raleigh, Ed Summers, and Nancy Tharp, 5 years.

2008 Centre High School winter homecoming candidates are Samantha Jo Alvarez, Amy Jo Hajek, Justine Jennings, Andrew Carlson, Michael Kaiser, and Tye Remy. Lance Selznick was posthumously named an honorary candidate.

Central Park Improvement Committee will hold an auction at 10 a.m. Saturday in Marion City Auditorium to raise funds for new playground equipment in Central Park. Two tickets will be given away for the Reba McIntire and Kelly Clarkson concert to be held Jan. 31 at Wichita. Donations are being accepted for chances to win.
