Members of the community participated in a fall festival Saturday at Central Park as part of fund-raiser efforts for new playground equipment. The afternoon’s events of games and activities added approximately $4,000 to bring a total of $26,000 raised toward the goal of $40,000.

A surprise twister touched down Wednesday on property east of US-56/77 from the Lost Springs corner and a mile south, destroying a large machine shed and several trees.

Marion Ministerial Alliance and community volunteers are preparing for the annual community Thanksgiving dinner scheduled for Thanksgiving Day.

Reunions reported in this issue include those of the Centre High School class of 1967, the family of Henry and Carrie Collett, and the Padgett sisters and brothers.

Being afraid will be a good thing this weekend when Marion High School Key Club and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Marion County will sponsor “Terror at the Lake,” a haunted house and hayrack ride for sixth graders and older this weekend at the Marion County Lake hall.

Former Marion High School cross-country runners, Danielle Cope and Gavin Moore, reunited Friday at Butler Community College. Cope was running for Cloud County Community College and Moore was a part of the Butler cross-country team. Both finished in the top 10.
