Marion-Florence USD 408 board of education members recently gathered south of the historic Hill Building for a ceremonial groundbreaking, signaling the long-awaited start of construction for the new district auditorium facility. Marion Warrior Travis Hett is pictured as he beams with elation Friday as the scoreboard overhead displays the result of his last-second overtime tip-in that propelled the Warriors to a 44-42 win over Hillsboro, ending more than 14 years of frustration at the hands of the Trojans.

It started with a team of horses and wagon and 80 years later there are 15 employees, a fleet of trucks, and more than a semi load of memories. Ron “Bunk” and Kathleen Ludwig have sold the family business, Ludwig Truck Line, Inc. of Florence to Floyd Wild, Inc.

Marion High School crowns a new queen and king in winter homecoming festivities Friday prior to the start of the varsity boys’ basketball game against Lyons at Marion High School Gymnasium. Candidates are Sonja Steinborn, Jandee Sharp, Katie Hett, Emmanuel Jackson, Joel Zeiner, and Travis Hett.
