Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison will be guest speaker Monday evening at the annual Chamber of Commerce dinner.

Marion County residents dug out Sunday from six to seven inches of snow that fell Saturday. The snow was the perfect consistency for building forts, snowmen and igloos. Marion High School flute player Jessica Vogel is one of 77 wind and percussion instrumentalists selected to participate in the Winter Festival for Wind and Percussion at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Vogel is the daughter of Greg and Dina Vogel of Marion.

Noreen Weems, director of Marion County Department for Elderly, has informed Marion County Commission that she will retire, effective May 1. Weems has been director for nearly 27 years,

Erin Richmond and Jordan Timm have been designated Marion High School students of the month for January by school staff. Richmond, a senior, is the daughter of Rodney and Diane Richmond. Timm, also a senior, is the son of Larry and Krista Timm and resides with Chris and Janet Killough.
