Members of Marion Chamber of Commerce presented a first dollar of profit Thursday to Rick LeShure, owner of Rick’s Service, 147 W. Main.

Stan Thiesen, director of Marion County EMS service, was fired Monday by Marion County Commissioners. Termination was effective immediately. In a special session in the afternoon, commissioners named Larry Larsen of Peabody to serve as temporary director.

Eighteen Marion County students who recently received academic scholarships for the 2006-07 school year at Kansas State University include Casey Nelson, Russell Ploutz, Timothy Schuler, Tyler Stubenhofer, and Alan Vogel.

Jackie Hett and her three daughters, Melanie Ensey of Valley Center, Melinda Helmer of Andover, and Melissa O’Sullivan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, spent several days recently in Las Vegas, Nevada. They attended the National Finals Rodeo and visited a flower show and other points of interest.

Dr. Clayton Fetsch recently began providing surgical services at St. Luke Hospital. The McPherson doctor comes to Marion every Tuesday.

Longtime volunteer Eileen Sieger informed Marion County Commissioners Monday that after serving 15 years, she did not want to be reappointed to serve on the county’s planning commission or board of zoning appeals.
