A feature story in this issue tells of the Cunningham Ranch, northeast of Burns, owned by Sandra Cunningham, daughter of the renowned Kansas distance runner, Glenn Cunningham.

First place winners Sunday in the Kiwanis Club-sponsored Punt, Pass and Kick event were 8/9 boys, Cody Shipman; 8/9 girls, Bailey Robison; 10/11 boys, Caleb Williams; 10/11 girls, Kaelin Thierolf; 12/13 boys, Jordan Versch; 14/15 boys, Wil Case. These winners qualified for the sectional competition Oct. 29 in Wellington.

An open house will honor Delmar and Nadine Isely as they observe their 50th wedding anniversary. The celebration will be Oct. 29 at the Marion County Lake Hall.

Centre High School 2006 fall homecoming queen and king will be crowned Friday at Cougar Field. Candidates are Alisha Barney, Megan Gutsch, Alyssa Luna, Thieen Antoszyk, Seth Jirak, and Kevin Mueller.

Marion High School graduate Norman Bowers retired Sept. 22. He was the Johnson County Engineer and Director of Public Works for nearly 19 years. Prior to then he had been Marion County Engineer from 1973 to 1977.

Dee Summers of Marion will return in the near future to Kansas City where she plans to begin playing again on the professional woman’s football team, KC Storm.
