With nearly perfect weather Saturday, several thousand people crowded Main Street from Walnut Street to Marion High School to watch floats, bands, and dignitaries pass by during the 95th Old Settlers’ Day parade.

Former County Clerk Marquetta Eilerts of Peabody is pictured as she shares memories of her 27 years at Marion County Courthouse. Eilerts was part of the celebration Friday as the courthouse observed its 100th birthday.

A new historical marker honoring those involved in the construction of Marion County Park and Lake will be dedicated Saturday in front of the CCC statue along Lakeside Rd. near Upland Rd.

Don Hayen, a native of Marion, now living in San Marcos, California, was at Marion City Library Friday selling and autographing copies of his first novel, “Moonshine Harvest.” The fictional story is set in Marion and draws on people Hayen knew while growing up here in the 1940s.

The team of Ty Waner, Jerold Waner, James Roudebush, and Rod Roudebush took top honors in the championship flight of the County Club golf tournament on Old Settlers’ Day. Kevin Burkholder, Dwayne Kahns, Jeff Kahns, and Trent Richmond finished at the top the first flight. Second flight honors went to the team of Joe Bowman, Gerald Shaft, Mike Dvorak and Doug Thompson.
