A boat regatta has been added to the lineup of activities for the Marion County Firefighters Sunday at Marion County Lake. Prizes will be given for the best-decorated boats. The regatta will follow the afternoon program and precede the fireworks show to be held at dusk.
Mike and Dick Carr of Carr Construction are pictured as they install new countertops in the concession area at Warrior Stadium. The project, supported by the Marion High School Boosters organization, will be finished by the first football game at the field.
Kelly Linnens, vice president and cashier of Cottonwood Valley Bank, Florence, recently was elected secretary/treasurer of the Community Bankers Association of Kansas.
A feature story by Rowena Plett tells about experiences had by Valera Morgan of Marion, who spent 19 years as a cook at the Kansas State Fair. Morgan, provided meals for every entertainer, singing group, and band that performed at the fair during those years. She was assisted by her two sisters and a niece.
Eight new teachers have begun teaching duties at Marion-Florence USD 408. They are LeAnn Blaesi, Crystal Gray, Tina Hague, Lisa Johnson, Luke King, Sarah Overton, Shayne Murphy, and Casson Schmidt.
