Marion County Firefighters are planning a day and evening of family activities and entertainment Sept. 3 at the Marion County Lake. A fireworks show will follow at dark.

Members of Marion High School Key Club and Marion Kiwanis Club recently cleaned up and repainted the “Big M” on the east side of the city. Key Club members Danielle Cope, Kari Tajchman, Katie Hett, and Erin Richmond are pictured as they roll on the white paint while Kiwanian Roger Hannaford III provides the paint.

Two tour groups will be visiting Marion and rhino owners are reminded to have their concrete masterpieces on display. The groups will be in town Sept. 2 and 21, which proves ample time to touch-up the statuary,

Riley Ross, Isaac Guetersloh, and Kyle Hett, this year’s attendees at Boys’ State, presented a program about their experiences there at Monday’s Kiwanis Club meeting.

Several residents recently have reported sightings of mountain lions, both south and north of Marion.

A group of approximately 35 members of the Flint Hills Muzzleloaders plan to hold a rendezvous with other muzzleloaders at their campground at Florence during the Labor Day weekend. The public is invited to visit their camp on Saturday or Sunday.
