David Leith of Leith Inc. is the first recipient of the city’s grant program for businesses. He applied for the grant to construct a metal fence around his property at 126 S. Thorp St., Marion.

Four-year-old Peyton Ensey, son of Tammy and Jeremy Ensey of Valley Center is pictured on the front page following a family tradition of skiing at Marion County Lake. His parents, Tammy and Jeremy Ensey, three uncles, and his grandmother, Melanie Ensey, are avid skiers.

Emmy Lou and Molly Hess are pictured, each holding a head of cabbage from their garden. First entries of the season in the annual Marion County Record produce derby, the cabbages weighed 8 and 10 pounds. The girls’ mother, Sherry Hess, said they were on their way home to make bierrocks.

The Brad Putter family will host Cara Leung, a teen from Hong Kong, who will attend Marion High School in the fall.
