Man arrested after breaking window

A Wichita man was arrested April 16 after an incident in Florence in which he cut his arm on a broken window and was struck by a car being backed away.
Jesse L. Marshall, 44, Wichita, got into an angry dispute with Paige Garcia at her residence in the 200 block of W. 8th St.
According to Undersheriff Larry Starkey, Marshall broke out a window and was bleeding from his arm when deputy Landis Goodman called an ambulance to check him.
Marshall also was hitting the driver’s window of a car being backed up by Garcia and was struck by the car.
Starkey said Garcia stated that Marshall was drinking at the time.
Marshall was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property, assault, and interference with law enforcement. He also had outstanding warrants against him, Starkey said.
According to the jail’s roster, Marshall was booked on suspicion of battery.
He previously was jailed Aug. 8 on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; transporting an open container of alcohol; driving while his license was canceled, suspended or revoked; and on a 14-day court-ordered commitment.
He was charged Aug. 29 with driving while his license was canceled, suspended or revoked and transporting an open container of alcohol.
He pleaded no contest Oct. 18 to driving while his license was canceled, suspended or revoked and was sentenced to unsupervised probation until Dec. 31 and ordered to pay $263. The charge of transporting an open container was dismissed.
He was jailed June 9 on two counts of violating his probation.
He was jailed Oct. 7, 2022, on suspicion of aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, making a criminal threat, criminal damage to property, battery on a law enforcement officer, interference with law enforcement, and criminal trespass.
In that case, he was charged Oct. 21, 2022, with aggravated burglary of a dwelling, aggravated battery, making a criminal threat, interference with law enforcement, battery against a law enforcement officer, and criminal damage to property.
In a plea agreement filed Aug. 8, 2023, Marshall pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of attempted residential burglary, making a criminal threat, and interference with law enforcement. The remaining charges, as well as a charge of criminal trespass filed in a different case, were dismissed.
He was sentenced to a year’s probation and ordered to pay $658.
